Read about technical director Neil Clark’s experience:
Prior to commencing work with Mott MacDonald in April 2006 I had
spent 30 years working in the public sector. I commenced my career
in 1976 as a trainee highway superintendent working for Coventry
City Council. In 1986 I moved house from Coventry to Kenilworth and
changed my job to work for Warwickshire County Council.
Throughout my career I have managed to achieve steady progression
rather than rapid rises and this has enabled me to gain a broad
knowledge and understanding of the highway maintenance industry in
the public sector. Prior to leaving Warwickshire, I was the Highway
Operations Manager with responsibility for managing 52 staff and a
budget of £6 million.
I was actively involved in major reorganisation and re-structuring
of the highway service in Warwickshire after obtaining a Master of
Arts Degree in Management in 2002.
Since arriving at Mott MacDonald I’ve worked on some very
interesting and rewarding projects including researching and
producing a feasibility study on the development of collaborative
approach to the delivery of highway network and management services
in the east of England, assisting in the preparation of bids for
contracts with Local Authorities, for example, the successful bid
for the States of Jersey. The Jersey Highways Partnership was
formed in September 2006 and I am involved as Project Manager on
behalf of the Group. More recently, I was the Bid Manager for two
new framework contracts with Portsmouth City Council.
After 18 months working for Mott MacDonald my only regret is that I
did not make the move earlier in my career, as the work is so
varied, interesting and challenging.
