Jersey’s Transport and Technical Services
Department is responsible for maintaining 300km of the island’s
roads
Jersey in the Channel Islands is the focus of our latest
highways management partnership. Mott MacDonald and St Helier based
Ross-Gower Associates have been appointed by the States of Jersey
Government to help deliver the island’s road upgrading and
maintenance programme.

The purpose of the Jersey Highways Partnership,
which was established in September 2006, is to provide planning,
programming, design, contract preparations, project management and
supervision for the island’s capital highways maintenance
programme.

Jersey’s Transport and Technical Services Department
is responsible for maintaining 300km of the island’s roads and
plans to spend £15 million over five years on a programme of large
highway maintenance schemes. These aim to restore the overall
condition of the roads and provide a sustainable outcome by
including strengthening works that reduce the whole life
maintenance cost of road pavements.

Working with local consultant Ross-Gower Associates,
Mott MacDonald’s role includes project management and budget
control, pavement engineering and highway design, traffic
management and contract preparation, site supervision and utility
co-ordination.
We are helping to successfully deliver several projects, including
the largest one by far, the total refurbishment of the island's
only dual carriageway in St Helier.
