collision with the passively safe signpost – testifying to its
safety
In a film for Channel 5’s Fifth Gear motoring programme on UK
television, Mott MacDonald teamed up at Santa Pod racing course
with Signpost Solutions (SignFix) – distributors of Lattix
passively safe signposts – to demonstrate how passively safe
signposts can save lives.
Commenting on the demonstration, Andy Pledge, who approached the
Highways Agency to adopt Lattix signposts on some of the UK’s
highways, said, “The aim was to raise awareness of the benefits of
passive safety among the general public as well as professionals in
the industry.”
Andy’s work was acknowledged at the Highways Magazine Awards for
Excellence where he and his team won the Consultant of the Year
Award. This title is awarded to “the consultancy who has
demonstrated unique methods of solving client requirements using
innovative procedures and practical solutions whilst ensuring both
best practice and best value.” Highways Magazine said, “Mott
MacDonald is the most proactive UK consultant in the field of
passive safety.
The company has been innovative by demonstrating to clients the
whole life cost benefits of passive products and the added value
available through their use in improved safety for installation and
maintenance operatives and for the environment.”
